Next Week Outlook: Fed Rate Cut a 'Done Deal', Hawk-Dove Debate in the Spotlight
BlockBeats News, December 6th. Next week, the last FOMC meeting of the year will arrive, with the interest rate decision set to be announced at 3:00 on Thursday (UTC+8), followed by Fed Chair Powell's monetary policy press conference at 3:30 (UTC+8). According to CME FedWatch, there is an 84% probability of a 25 basis point rate cut next week. The upcoming FOMC meeting is expected to be one of the most controversial in recent years, with investors focusing on the policymakers' divergent views on rate cuts and the signals Fed Chair Powell will send about the future direction of policy. Of the 12 FOMC voting members, 5 are opposed or skeptical of further easing monetary policy, while 3 members support a rate cut. Since 2019, there has not been a meeting where three or more dissenting votes have occurred, making dissension a closely watched issue. Key macroeconomic data and events are as follows:
Tuesday:
RBA Interest Rate Decision and Monetary Policy Press Conference by RBA Governor Lowe;
Wednesday:
US Q3 Labor Cost Index q/q; Bank of Canada Interest Rate Decision;
Thursday:
