Trump dự định mở rộng các biện pháp nới lỏng hạn chế đối với việc vận chuyển dầu mỏ của Mỹ
Theo một báo cáo của AXIOS trích dẫn các quan chức Mỹ, Trump đã đình chỉ một luật hàng hải gây tranh cãi, Đạo luật Jones, trong thời kỳ chiến tranh Iran, làm cho việc vận chuyển dầu trong nước Mỹ trở nên thuận tiện hơn—bây giờ ông hy vọng duy trì được tình trạng này.
Đạo luật được biết đến với tên gọi Đạo luật Jones, được ban hành vào năm 1920, đã tăng chi phí vận chuyển giữa các cảng của Mỹ bằng cách yêu cầu hàng hóa phải được vận chuyển bằng các tàu mang cờ Mỹ. Để đối phó với giá nhiên liệu tăng cao do chiến tranh Iran, Trump đã ban hành một lệnh miễn trừ 60 ngày đối với luật này vào ngày 18 tháng 3 để đơn giản hóa việc vận chuyển dầu.
Theo dữ liệu do Nhà Trắng cung cấp, kể từ đó, 40 tàu chở dầu đã có thể vận chuyển dầu giữa các cảng của Mỹ từ California đến Texas, Florida và Alaska, tăng kích thước đội tàu thực tế lên 70%, từ đó giúp giảm chi phí.
